Angela Lyons (BSc General Nursing, HDip Midwifery, IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant).
I obtained my Nursing Degree and Higher Diploma in UCC (University College Cork) in conjunction with Bon Secours Hospital Cork and CUMH (Cork University Maternity Hospital).
My IBCLC qualification is granted from the IBLCE (International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners). It is an internationally recognised qualification.
I am registered as both a nurse and midwife with NMBI (Nursing Midwifery Board Ireland) and AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) while also a member of ALCI (Association of Lactation Consultants Ireland) and ABA (Australian Breastfeeding Association).
My name is Angela, Mum to 2 young kids and wife to Alan. We live in Cork, Ireland.
I qualified as a general nurse 16 years ago and I have been a midwife for 14 years.
I have worked both nationally and internationally since qualifying. I was nominated for Midwife of the year award for my work as a midwife in Australia. While working in Perth, Australia I was part of the opening team of a brand new hospital.
Through my work as a midwife I discovered a passion and love for infant feeding. I saw a lot of conflicting advise given to new parents and I decided to become an IBCLC so that I could expand my knowledge base and provide an evidence based practical approach in helping families. I qualified as an IBCLC in 2021.
I have helped many families in their infant feeding journeys.
I have had my own two very different infant feeding journeys. One combination fed with breastfeeding, expressed breastmilk and formula and the other exclusive breastfeeding for 2 years and counting!
My passion is to help families with their infant feeding journey (exclusive breastfeeding, exclusive pumping, combination feeding, exclusive formula feeding) whatever path that may be for them.
